Manually removing The Panorama Factory from your Windows computer

Under normal circumstances you should be able to remove The Panorama Factory from your Windows computer using the Add or Remove Programs option on the Windows Control Panel.  This is the preferred way to remove The Panorama Factory from your computer.

Sometimes, however, the Windows Control Panel may be unable to remove the software.  For example, if you have accidentally (or intentionally) removed some parts of The Panorama Factory, the normal removal process may fail.  Furthermore, because The Panorama Factory's setup program automatically removes old versions of the software, the inability to remove an old version may prevent you from updating to the most recent version.

The Panorama Factory Removal Tool may be used to remove The Panorama Factory from your computer without using the Windows Control Panel.  The Panorama Factory Removal Tool removes all versions of The Panorama Factory from your computer.

You should use this program if one or more of these applies to you:

  • You tried to remove The Panorama Factory using Add/Remove Programs but it did not work.

  • You tried to install an update to The Panorama Factory and the setup program was unable to remove a previous version of The Panorama Factory.

  • You were asked to use it by a member of The Panorama Factory Support Team.

The Panorama Factory Removal Tool provides several options:

  • Partial or complete removal.  You may completely remove The Panorama Factory from your computer or you may remove it with the intention of reinstalling The Panorama Factory.  In this case, the Removal Tool preserves Windows Registry settings containing your Registration Key, your default Wizard settings and your custom tool profiles.

  • Remove or preserve application files.  The Removal Tool always removes Windows Registry entries, installer files and program shortcuts.  You may also choose to remove or preserve application files and application folders.  If you choose to preserve application files and application folders and later decide that you want to remove them, you will have to remove them manually.  This is because they are located through Windows Registry entries.  After removing the Windows Registry entries it is no longer possible for the Removal Tool to find the application files and folders.

  • Really remove items or list items without removing them.  The Removal Tool can be used to search for components of The Panorama Factory.  This lets you see what changes will be made to your computer without actually removing anything.

Step 1 -- Close all programs

It may not be possible to remove some items if they are currently in use. For example, if The Panorama Factory is running or if a Windows Explorer is showing the contents of one of The Panorama Factory's file folders, the Removal Tool will not be able to remove certain files. It is best to close all running programs including Windows Explorer before following these instructions.

You may keep the Internet Explorer windows containing this web page open if you want to refer to these instructions as you run the Removal Tool.

Step 2 -- Download and run the Removal Tool

Click the following link to download the Removal Tool.  Choose Run when asked if you want to save or run the program.  (Windows Vista and Windows 7 users, see important note below.)

Download PFRemove.exe (261 KB)  for all Windows systems

Download PFRemove_64.exe (877 KB)  for Windows x64 systems

Important note for Windows x64 users
For complete removal from a Windows x64 computer, you must run both versions of PFRemove.  First run PFRemove.exe, then run PFRemove_64.exe.

Important note for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users
You must follow a slightly different procedure to run PFRemove on Vista.  When asked if you want to save or run the program, save it to a file on your computer.  Using Windows Explorer, find the PFRemove application file.  Right-click the file and choose the command Run as administrator from the popup context menu.

On Vista and 7, you must explicitly ask to run as administrator, even if you are logged into an administrator user account.  Otherwise, PFRemove will be unable to remove the files and registry entries that were created by The Panorama Factory's setup program.

Step 3 -- Choose options

1. Removal type

  • 1a. Partial removal with the intention to reinstall The Panorama Factory

Choose this option if you plan to reinstall The Panorama Factory.  This option preserves your Registration Key, your default Wizard settings and your custom tool profiles.  You should use this option if you are having difficulty installing an update to The Panorama Factory.

  • 1b. Complete removal of The Panorama Factory

Choose this option only if you no longer wish to have The Panorama Factory on your computer and you do not intend to reinstall it.

2. What to remove

  • 2a. Remove Windows Registry entries, installer files and program shortcuts only

Choose this option only if you want to preserve The Panorama Factory's application files and folders or if you want to remove them manually.  After removing the Windows Registry entries it will no longer be possible for the Removal Tool to find the application files and folders.

  • 2b. Remove Windows Registry entries, installer files, program shortcuts, application files and application folders

Choose this option unless you want to remove The Panorama Factory's application files and folders manually.

3. Really remove?

  • 3a. Search for items to be removed but do not actually remove them

Choose this option to display components of The Panorama Factory without removing them.  This gives you a preview of the changes the Removal Tool will make to your computer.

  • 3b. Really remove items

Choose this option when you are ready to perform the removal.

NOTE: Removal cannot be undone or reversed!

Step 4 -- Start the removal or search

4. Remove --or--  4. Search

Click the Remove button to start removing items or the Search button to start searching for items without removing them.

NOTE: You may click this button again to Pause the process, but removal cannot be undone or reversed!

Step 5 -- Restart your computer

Please restart your computer to complete the removal.

NOTE: After completing this procedure and restarting your computer, files with the .pfp file type will not be recognized as Panorama Factory documents until the first time you run some version of The Panorama Factory.
