Trouble report 618

System event log messages from the Windows XP "SideBySide" component

Versions affected

4.2 - 4.3

Description

When you start The Panorama Factory m32 Edition, three messages are entered in the System log.

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

Generate Activation Context failed for C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\ ... \MFC80.DLL. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

These events occur even though The Panorama Factory is operating normally. They appear to be caused by MFC80.DLL (a Microsoft DLL used by The Panorama Factory) trying to determine whether your system contains MFCLOC.DLL. MFCLOC.DLL is used only on non-English systems. The absence of this DLL apparently produces these events, but does not cause problems for The Panorama Factory.

Workaround

No workaround is needed. The Panorama Factory operates normally in spite of these messages.

Status

Corrected in V4.4.
