Hi

I tryed to stich fisheye images for virtual tour, but there wasn't any luck. I got very unprofessional look with black coners visable.
Does Panoramic Factory allow to stich fisheye images to make QTVR? Where i can find more information about that?

Thanks

Unfortunately, The Panorama Factory does not support fisheye lenses.

From time to time we have considered adding fisheye support, but a company called IPIX originally held patents on a certain method of producing VR images using fisheye lenses. IPIX aggressively defended their patents, shutting down companies that they believed infringed on it. Although IPIX has declared bankruptcy, this does not invalidate their patent claims. The IPIX patents were purchased by Sony and it remains to be seen what Sony will do with them.

While we believe that it is possible to make a fisheye-based product that does not infringe on the patents, we simply cannot afford the legal costs that would be incurred in justifying that position. The income from The Panorama Factory is not enough at this time to justify pursuing this option.

I'm sorry, I wish I had a better answer for you about fisheye lenses.

It is possible to make excellent full sphere images from conventional (non-fisheye) photographs with The Panorama Factory using multi-row stitching. For more information, refer to Full sphere panoramas with a tripod, using semi-automatic stitching, one of the techniques covered in Multi-row stitching with The Panorama Factory V4.

A few questions regarding this question: Because an 8mm fisheye becomes a 12mm in many digital cameras, could that be stitched? If a 3rd party software was used to make the image more rectilinear, could that then be stitched with PF (or would I just have to experiment)?
