I do not have the Mac version, but the most common reason for this is that you do not have Quicktime installed (free one is fine). Can you confirm this and then try saving as QTVR?

Hi nose jose,

Please give me a little more information about the difficulty you are having with QTVR. Are you selecting QTVR on the Save Image As dialog box? What goes wrong when you try to save with QTVR selected?

I suggest you ask your friend to watch you use The Panorama Factory on your Mac to be sure you are using the correct commands. The two versions are identical. The same commands should do the same things on PC and on Mac.

(Note to David: QuickTime comes already installed on Mac. You don't need to install it separately on Mac. It's only on Windows that you need to install it yourself.)

hi,
thanks for your fast replays and i am sorry for being that unspecific.

i am using the trial version (my friend to); quicktime is installed (with several updates) and a lot of other players too.

i selected the image --> "save image as..." --> in this box i have the possibility to save the image as: jpg, tiff, psd and something else but i cannot select qtvr (doesn't appear on the list).

i also uninstalled the program; downloaded it again and installed it a second time -> same problem.

I am not sure why QTVR is not available in the Save Image dialog box on your computer.

The QTVR choice should always be available in the Mac and m32 Editions of The Panorama Factory, even if QuickTime is not installed on your computer. The Panorama Factory does not check for QuickTime until you choose the QTVR option.

(QTVR is NOT available in the x64 Edition of The Panorama Factory. Refer to #9 in the V5.0 release notes for more information. But the x64 Edition runs only on Windows, so that cannot be the reason.)

Could you please send me a screen grab of The Panorama Factory's "About" dialog?
  1. Start The Panorama Factory application--the one that complains about duplicate profiles.
  2. Click "OK" on all of the Duplicate file messages.
  3. At the top of the Mac screen, you'll see The Panorama Factory's menu bar. Click "PFactory" to open the PFactory menu:
    macmenu
  4. Choose "About The Panorama Factory...".
  5. The About dialog will open. Click the "More" button and scroll the list all the way to the bottom. It should look something like this:
    macabout
The screen grab may help me to determine whether there is a problem with the installation of The Panorama Factory's QuickTIme support.

I attached the "about" dialog. Which is shorter than yours, also my scrollblog is much shorter (i stiched the two images together - there are no more lines).

Thanksabout dialog

Well...

If that's all you see in the About dialog box, then something is wrong with the install of The Panorama Factory.

It appears that you have installed ONLY the patch update 2707 without installing the application first. I do not understand how this is possible. The patch update should refuse to install unless the entire application is already installed.

Did you download here:
    http://www.panoramafactory.com/download.html
And install according to the instructions here:
    http://www.panoramafactory.com/help/help.html?p=install.html&a=mac

Or did you download it from somewhere else?

I don't think a 3rd install will be any different. Give me a little time to think about what to try next.

Hi,

Quick questions to help me decide what to do next:

1. Did you install to /Applications or some other location?

2. Are you comfortable executing shell commands in the Terminal application?

Hi nose jose,

I have found that installing The Panorama Factory into a folder whose name contains extended Unicode characters does not work properly. I tested using Cyrillic characters, but it may also fail with other characters that are outside the ISO-8859-1 (Latin 1) character set.

Could this be happening on your computer?

I am investigating this problem to see how widespread this problem is. I don't know whether it causes other problems. And I don't know yet how difficult it will be to fix.

Fortunately, the workaround is quite simple. Just install to a different folder!

Please report back here so that I will know whether or not this advice corrects the problem for you.

Hi,
thanks for all the information!
The last two times I installed the program in my application folder.

Don't ask me why but now it is working - I deleted all items I could found, downloaded the program again and installed it in a new folder inside my application folder - now it is running fine.

THANKS A LOT, best regards

I'm glad to know that The Panorama Factory is working for you now!

We may never know for certain whether extended characters were somehow causing your difficulty.

However, the good news is that I found out about the extended character problem and I have determined how to fix it. It will be corrected in the next release of The Panorama Factory.

THANK YOU, TOO!
