Wierd thing is happening. The final panoramas are too tall (vertically) by about 15%. In other words, the proper aspect ratio is not preserved.

It's not hard to fix, I just resize the height down by about 15%. However, it IS annoying.

Can you give a little more information? Perhaps you could post examples.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the proper aspect ratio". The vertical scale of the stitched panorama is affected by the choice of projection. I have done extensive testing that shows that the different projections are calculated correctly by The Panorama Factory. In other words, its Cylindrical, Spherical and Perspective projections meet the mathematical definitions of those projections.

With Cylindrical projection and Perspective projection, the image becomes increasingly stretched as the vertical field of view increases. This is normal and correct for those projections. Have you tried Spherical projection? Perhaps you will find this more pleasing.

Or perhaps I have misunderstood you. Additional explanation with examples might help.

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to share these panoramas, however, I could probably do a better job of explaining.

To make my pans, I:

1) Stitch in PF
2) Save to TIFF, and edit/touch up in Photoshop
3) Import modified TIFF into PF, set the panoramic options, save as QTVR

So in step 2, I basically have a rectangular TIFF image. I make some changes in Photoshop, save it, and then import it into PF to make into a QTVR. The problem is that the TIFF (straight out of PF stiching in step 1) is too tall.

In other words, if the rectangular TIFF output from PF should be 4000 x 1200, it will instead be 4000 x 1500. When I ultimately put the panoramic parameters back in with PF, and create the QTVR, the output looks silly (doors are too tall, people are too thin, etc). It's vertically stretched.

So my "bandaid" solution has been simply to resize the verticle resolution, either in PF at the end, or after doing touchups in Photoshop. However, it's a guestimate, and sometimes I resize by too much, and sometimes too little.

Does that explanation make more sense?

If it's still unclear, I can go shoot a panorama this afternoon of something non-job-related and post it up here.

If you export to QTVR directly from PF (without the conversion to TIFF, Photoshop, etc), does the QTVR look correct?

How do you know that the rectangular output should be 4000 x 1200?

When you put the panoramic parameters back in with PF are they exactly the same as the parameters that PF reported for the stitched and cropped image?

Are you following the step-by-step instructions provided in the forum article How to modify the final image in photoshop? This procedure has always worked properly for me.
