Hi all,

According to the Nikon Coolpix 4500 specifications at http://www.nikonusa.com/specs/25503.pdf the Coolpix 4500's actual focal length range corresponds to 38-155mm for 35mm cameras. Since yesterday i'm using a factor 0.63-WideAngleConverter so i got 24mm's (23.94).

What do i have to select within PanoramaFactory? Should i enter the focal length of 38 and the Factor "0.63 X" or should i use the value 24?

Please help me,

regards,

Mark

If you want to enter the focal length yourself, you should enter 38mm for the focal length and enter 0.63 X for the focal length multiplier.

It is important to know that the best focal length value may be slightly different from what you expect it to be. When a camera manufacturer says that the focal length is equivalent to 38mm, this value may not always be the best number for The Panorama Factory. This is partly because the digital camera companies do not specify the exact method used for determining 35mm equivalency (there are at least three different methods). If you would like to learn more about this, please read What is "35mm equivalent focal length?".

I recommend that you start by selecting "Automatically detect focal length". Or if you want to be more specific, you could select "I guessed the focal length" or "I am pretty sure of the focal length". In most cases, The Panorama Factory's fully automatic detection works very well.

To learn about manually adjusting the focal lenght value and to see examples of what happens when the focal length value is incorrect, please read Adjusting focal length and barrel correction.
