Would it be possible to add an option to find the focal lenght of a series manually?

Perhaps scale each image 25% then display the thumbnails overlapped. Using a slider, you could visually see when the focal lenght was correct.

A manual procedure for determining focal length is described at http://www.panoramafactory.com/help/tip_focallength.html. While this is not as interactive as the method you described, it is available right now.
